ONTARIO LAUNCHES GUIDE FOR SENIORS IN PUNJABI

Ontario Improves Access To Information For Seniors

NEWS RELEASE

Saturday, August 23, 2008.

Guide to Programs and Services for Seniors in Ontario

Seniors in Ontario’s growing Punjabi community can now get print copies of Ontario’s Guide to Programs and Services for Seniors, announced Amrit Mangat, MPP for Mississauga-Brampton South.

“Ontario’s seniors are becoming increasingly diverse,” said Mangat.  “Our government is committed to reflecting this diversity in a variety of ways. The Punjabi version of this guide is proof of that.”

The guide provides seniors with information about programs and services made available to them by governments, community organizations and service providers.

Printed versions of the guide are also available in English, French, Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian, and the guide can be accessed in these languages online at www.ontarioseniors.ca.

“We want all seniors in Ontario to be able to access information about important programs and services in the language they’re most comfortable with,” said Mangat. “I’m pleased that the print version of this guide is now available to the growing number of Punjabi-speaking seniors.”

Mangat, who is the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister Responsible for Seniors, made the announcement at the 7th Annual Fun Fair Mela, which was organized by the Indian International Seniors Club and held on the grounds of the South Fletcher's Sportsplex in Brampton.
